Wear Sunscreen or the Sunscreen Speech are the common names of an essay actually called “Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young” written by Mary Schmich and published in the Chicago Tribune as a column in 1997. The most popular and well-known form of the essay is the successful music single released in 1999, credited to Baz Luhrmann. Mary Schmich’s “Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young” was published in the Chicago Tribune as a column on June 1, 1997. In her introduction to the column, she described it as the commencement address she would give if she were asked to give one. The column soon became the subject of an urban legend, in which it was alleged to be an MIT commencement speech given by author Kurt Vonnegut in that same year (in truth, MIT’s commencement speaker that year was Kofi Annan). Despite a follow-up article by Mary Schmich on August 3, 1997, in which she referred to the “lawless swamp of cyberspace” that had made her and Kurt Vonnegut “one”, by 1999 the falsely attributed story was widespread. When the column was later turned into a song, Schmich’s “wish” came true when the University of

Abe Lyman (August 4, 1897 – October 23, 1957) was a popular bandleader from the 1920s to the 1940s. He made recordings, appeared in films and provided the music for numerous radio shows, including Your Hit Parade. His name at birth was Abraham Simon Lymon. Abe and his brother Mike changed their last name to Lyman because they both thought it sounded better. Abe learned to play the drums when he was young, and at the age of 14 he had a job as a drummer in a Chicago café. Around 1919, Abe was regularly playing music with two other notable future big band leaders, Henry Halstead and Gus Arnheim in California. In Los Angeles Mike opened the Sunset, a night club popular with such film stars as Mary Pickford, Norma Talmadge, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. When Abe’s nine-piece band first played at the Sunset, it was a success, but the club closed after celebrities signed contracts stating they were not to be seen at clubs. For an engagement at the Cocoanut Grove in The Ambassador Hotel on April 1, 1922, Abe added a violinist and saxophonist. Opening night drew a large crowd of 1500 guests in the Cocoanut Grove, plus another 500 more outside. After the band cut their first record under the local label Nordskog, they moved a year later to Brunswick Records where they made many recordings. The Lyman Orchestra toured Europe in 1929, appearing at the Kit Cat Club and the Palladium in London and at the Moulin Rouge and the Perroquet in Paris. Abe Lyman and his

Whether it is wondering how to move to Platteville, Milwaukee or another city, we have all been there. Moving can be a lot of stress. Between looking for a place to live, worrying about budgetary concerns, not to mention packing all of our belongings, the task can often seem overwhelming. That is why many online sites have been launched to help you figure out how to move to Madison, or anywhere else your heart desires! The process is simple. First, figure out where you want to move (which is not always easy!) Then, go to an online rental agency and select the area into which you are thinking of moving. Select the specifics from our criteria. Are you looking for a studio apartment? If so, check that box. Maybe you are looking for something a bit bigger, like a two bedroom for yourself and a roommate or child? These searches are available, too. Simply check the boxes next to any or all of the accommodations that sound good to you, and then put in your price range. In the low box, type the lowest amount you would like to pay per month. In the high box, you can put the maximum amount you could comfortably pay for a living space. Then, press “run search” for results. The results page will appear with the number of apartments that fit your criteria, as well as with a map of the area. The cool thing about the map is that it places the selected apartments right where they are located, as well as putting the price directly on the map’s location. This can give you a great idea of not only what one apartment would cost, but also how costly various neighborhoods run around the location of interest. Landmarks like major highways and lakes are also shown on the map, so you can figure out what kind of a commute you would have if you chose any of the apartments listed. Figuring out how to move to Milwaukee can be easy with a little online help. Right on the list of results, pictures of the properties are shown, along with the square footage and number of bathrooms. If the apartment is a house or is within a house, rather than a complex, it will tell you that too. In order to see the complete list of details for an apartment you are interested in, most times you must register for an account. This is simple and beneficial to you since there is so much information on one site. Also, if you rent an apartment through some sites, you can receive up to a one hundred and twenty-five dollar reward! So, if you’re in the market to move, why not relieve some of the stress and figure out how to move to Platteville with a little help?

For more resources about Green Bay and Fox Cities apartments or about Greater Milwaukee apartments or even about Greater Madison apartments, please review these pages.
